If you’ve picked up our September issue, you may have noticed a fresh new addition to the Athena Magazine team on the first page. We’re absolutely thrilled to announce that Anthea Denning-Renshaw is joining us as a design partner, so we’re no longer wearing ‘all the hats’ between the two of us – we’re sharing the load. And we can’t wait to see how this collaboration will take Athena Magazine to new heights!
A New Creative Direction for Athena Magazine

So, how did this all come about? Well, Anthea actually reached out to us after seeing Athena Magazine in print. She wanted to explore how she could help and get involved, and after chatting with her, we quickly realised that her incredible experience and design expertise would be just what we needed to really elevate the magazine.
Anthea is currently a Senior Creative Design Manager at Condé Nast (the powerhouse behind Vogue, Tatler, and many more iconic publications), and she’s also the Creative Director at Denning Design. To say we’re excited to have someone with Anthea’s level of expertise on board is an understatement. Her background in high-end publishing and her exceptional design skills are exactly what Athena Magazine needs as we continue to grow.
What Does This Mean for Our Design?
For those of you who have been with us since the beginning, you’ll know that we (Fran and Stacey) have been doing our best with the design and layout, but it’s been a real challenge. The design side of things has definitely been one of the more stressful parts of starting Athena Magazine. We’ve made do with our (very limited) design skills, but we always knew we needed a pro to help us really bring the magazine to life.
With Anthea on board, we’re already seeing the magazine transform! You may have noticed some subtle changes to the front cover and the business directory in our September issue, and this is just the beginning. Anthea is slowly but surely going to bring the rest of the magazine’s design up to scratch, ensuring that it’s not only visually stunning but also functional, engaging, and aligned with the high standards that Athena aims for.
A Fresh New Look and Feel
We’re excited about the new creative direction that Anthea is bringing to Athena Magazine. It’s going to be an exciting few months as we refine the design, layout, and overall aesthetic. We know that good design isn’t just about making things look pretty; it’s about creating an experience that draws the reader in, keeps them engaged, and makes the whole magazine feel cohesive and polished. And with Anthea’s input, we’re confident we’ll be able to offer a much more dynamic and professional visual experience for all of our readers.
What’s Next?
As we continue to work with Anthea, you’ll notice more design updates across the magazine, from cover redesigns to more streamlined layouts and a more refined look for each section. We can’t wait to show you all the exciting changes that are coming your way!
This partnership is still in its early stages, but we’re already so excited to see where it takes us. We know that Anthea’s expertise is going to help Athena Magazine reach its full potential and bring even more value to our readers and advertisers.
A Big Thank You to Anthea
We want to give a huge thank you to Anthea for believing in Athena Magazine and for offering her expertise. We’re so excited to work alongside her and can’t wait for you all to see the beautiful, elevated design we have in store for the upcoming issues.
Stay tuned for more updates, and as always, thank you for supporting Athena Magazine. We’re on an exciting journey, and we’re so glad to have you along for the ride!
